Aqua Sports Swim Academy is proud to present our amazing team of instructors. Each member of our talented instruction staff is CPR and AED certified. Many of our instructors offer years of experience teaching children of all ages to swim, and others bring us years of competitive swimming experience. Together we have created a talented and qualified team of learn to swim professionals. Our goal is to provide each student with the best possible swim program.
As our Facility Director, Mike has the responsibility of developing our instructor base and maintaining a safe clean pool environment for our students. In addition to his many years of supervisory experience, Mike is also a Certified Pool Operator and oversees our pool chemistry.
Alex joined Aqua Sports one month after opening our doors in 2011. Since then, instructor Alex and Mike partner closely to build a unique curriculum designed for personalized swim instruction. Alex is our lead instructor responsible for curriculum development, quality, and consistency.
When Alex is not in the pool teaching he enjoys bike rides, reading comic books, and regular visits to Disneyland.
Christian is a very passionate learn-to-swim professional who employs a structured yet artistic style of teaching. He starting teaching swimming as a teenager at a local swim school and came to Aqua Sports in 2015 an accomplished senior instructor. Christian has added depth and character to our existing staff of instructors. He has perfected the art of teaching swimming using effective organization skills to guide him. As a result, Christian produces strong swimmers who are safe and confident in the water.
In his spare time, Christian is studying to become a school teacher. When not in school, or in the pool, Christian is an artist who enjoys painting miniature video game action figures.
Joseph’s career as a swim instructor began in 2004. Since then Joseph has mastered the art of teaching swimming. Kind and patient, Joseph has a flexible teaching style supporting all swimmer levels. Another local, Joseph was a competitive swimmer at San Mateo High School and went on to become a Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor soon after graduating. Using his water safety credentials, Joseph has provided Lifeguard services to many local public and private Aquatic centers.
When not in or around the water, Joseph is a part-time massage therapist. In his spare time, Joseph enjoys music and scary movies.
Liza loves the water and teaching swimming to children and adults. She has a versatile and engaging style of instruction that fits all swim abilities and student ages. Patience and persistence are among Liza’s feature qualities. And she is one of our weekend warriors, teaching full days on Saturday and Sunday. Liza came to Aqua Sports in 2015 and has been a learn-to-swim professional for over ten years. In addition to being one of our seasoned swim instructors, Liza is a part-time student earning her degree in Early Childhood Development.
In her spare time, Liza enjoys photography and taking care of her twin godchildren.
Rylie joins Aqua Sports as an accomplished swimmer who turned her love of the sport into inspiring new and developing swimmers. She is now dedicated to teaching children of all ages to love the sport and swim with confidence. Many of her families say she makes a lasting impact on her students with firm yet persuasive kindness. Rylie has a magic touch with fearful first-time swimmers and loves working with beginner students. Rylie began teaching swimming while attending University in Nevada. After receiving her Bachelors of Science in Biology, Rylie moved to the Bay Area and decided to re-enter the learn-to-swim profession by joining Aqua Sports. As a swim instructor, Rylie specializes in technical stroke development and competition ready skills. Rylie’s competitive swim career started as an age group swimmer and carried her through high school. Her favorite swim event is the one hundred meter breaststroke.
When Rylie is not in the pool teaching, she remains active in local wildlife habitats and devotes many hours weekly to bird watching. In fact, Rylie dedicates herself to enlisting community support for birding and wildlife conservation. Of course, she makes time for hiking, a good book, and watching movies.
