INSTRUCTORS

Aqua Sports Swim Academy is proud to present our amazing team of instructors. Each member of our talented instruction staff is CPR and AED certified. Many of our instructors offer years of experience teaching children of all ages to swim, and others bring us years of competitive swimming experience. Together we have created a talented and qualified team of learn to swim professionals. Our goal is to provide each student with the best possible swim program.

Mike

Mike, Swim Instructor at Aqua Sports and Swim Academy in San MateoMike came to Aqua Sports with over thirteen years of experience as a swim instructor and was instrumental in launching our swim school in 2011. He enjoys working with students of all ages and specializes in working with toddlers to develop early water safety and survival swim skills. Mike grew up on the Peninsula and started teaching swimming during his high school years.

As our Facility Director, Mike has the responsibility of developing our instructor base and maintaining a safe clean pool environment for our students. In addition to his many years of supervisory experience, Mike is also a Certified Pool Operator and oversees our pool chemistry.

Alex

Alex, Swim Instructor at Aqua Sports and Swim Academy in San Mateo

Alex joined Aqua Sports one month after opening our doors in 2011. Since then, instructor Alex and Mike partner closely to build a unique curriculum designed for personalized swim instruction. Alex is our lead instructor responsible for curriculum development, quality, and consistency.

Christian

Christian is a very passionate learn-to-swim professional who employs a structured yet artistic style of teaching. He starting teaching swimming as a teenager at a local swim school and came to Aqua Sports in 2015 an accomplished senior instructor. Christian has added depth and character to our existing staff of instructors. He has perfected the art of teaching swimming using effective organization skills to guide him.  As a result, Christian produces strong swimmers who are safe and confident in the water.

In his spare time, Christian is studying to become a school teacher. When not in school, or in the pool, Christian is an artist who enjoys painting miniature video game action figures.

Kaii

Kaii is a senior in high school, and she has been swimming competitively since the age of six. Currently, she is competing on her high school’s swim team. She also has a huge passion for animals and wants to be a veterinarian

Mia

Mia is a high school junior with a deep passion for swimming. She started swimming when she was 4 years old and has enjoyed it ever since. With her knowledge and love for swimming, Mia loves to help others gain these vital life skills. Besides swimming, she loves animation and hopes to pursue a career in stop-motion fabrication.

Isaac

Isaac, a college freshman diving into marine biology, doubles as a dedicated reconnaissance marine reservist. Since 2018, he’s shared his passion for swimming as an instructor. When not immersed in academia or service, Isaac finds joy in the realms of Star Wars, Warhammer 40k, and the great outdoors.

Matt

Matt, is a college sophomore studying biology. He has been swimming since a child and has 6 years of competitive swim team experience. Matt aspires to become a biology high school teacher and is passionate about teaching. In his free time, Matt also enjoys hiking, gym, and cooking.

Julissa

Hi! I’m Julissa, and I’ve been teaching swimming for two years. When I’m not in the pool, I love hiking and taking photos. Come swim with me and let’s have some fun in the water!
